丰富的课外活动机会

The Senior School’s extensive enrichment programme offers students a rich variety of opportunities to explore their interests, develop their talents, and grow as confident leaders. These experiences help students discover a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment that extends beyond the classroom.

At NLCS (Singapore), we believe learning goes far beyond the classroom walls. Our enrichment programme provides students with meaningful opportunities to discover their passions, develop their talents, and grow into confident, thoughtful leaders. While we celebrate achievements across academics, sports, the arts, and service, we place special emphasis on nurturing academic curiosity and scholarship, inspiring students to pursue excellence in all they do.

For Grades 9–12, two dedicated teaching periods focus on academic enrichment and support, woven thoughtfully into the curriculum. Throughout the Senior School, students are encouraged to join a variety of academic societies and activities that deepen their learning and foster collaboration.

Students can look forward to engaging and inspiring experiences such as:

  • Academic Societies: Exploring topics beyond the syllabus alongside peers who share their interests, cultivating a deeper love of learning.
  • Debates and Research Projects: Building confidence, critical thinking, and thoughtful engagement with complex ideas.
  • Olympiad Preparation: Challenging students to apply knowledge creatively and take pride in their achievements.
  • Guest Lectures and Interdisciplinary Workshops: Learning from experts and exploring fresh perspectives that ignite curiosity and independent thought.

Our Sports programme helps students discover and develop their potential through a wide range of sporting activities tailored to every age and ability. It promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and resilience, while encouraging a lifelong love of active living. Sport plays a vital role in school life, inspiring participation, aspiration, and excellence through both competitive and non-competitive opportunities. Guided by our “Sport for All” philosophy, we nurture every student’s interest and talent, encouraging them to explore, develop skills, and grow confidently from participation to expertise.

Sports Programme Objectives at the Respective Levels

Each competitive sports programme is structured across five levels:

  • Junior U8-U11 & Senior School U12 – At the primary level, we embrace a “Sport for All” approach, ensuring every child enjoys, grows, and develops their skills through a balance of fun and friendly competition.
  • U14 – Skill Development: Focused on building skills, game understanding, and knowledge of rules, this stage prioritises maximum participation to support growth and well-being while laying strong foundations for higher levels.
  • U16 – Training to Be Competitive: Our U16 students refine core skills and apply them in competitive settings, developing confidence, tactics, and a genuine love for their sport.
  • U19 – Competitive: At this stage, emphasising competitiveness, game time is earned through performance, while still fostering teamwork, participation, and advanced tactical understanding.

Dance

Dance at NLCS (Singapore) inspires students to express themselves through movement, rhythm, and creativity. We provide a vibrant, inclusive environment where students of all experience levels can explore new styles, develop talents, and find joy in performing.

Students can look forward to:

Exploring Different Styles: From Contemporary and Ballet to Street, Hip Hop, and K-Pop, students are encouraged to try new dance styles, develop their techniques, and express themselves freely.

Performance and Participation: With many opportunities to perform throughout the year, dance helps students build confidence while embracing teamwork, dedication, and self-expression in a welcoming, energetic community.

Drama

Whether your child is an aspiring actor, director, or stage designer, the Drama Department at NLCS (Singapore) provides a welcoming space where every student can find their voice and grow as a communicator and a leader. Here, students are encouraged to take risks, explore new ideas, and bring stories to life, all while supporting and inspiring one another.

Students can explore opportunities such as:

Performance and Production: Through workshops, creative projects, and full-scale productions such as Around the World in 80 Days, Twelfth Night, and Bugsy Malone, students experience both classical and contemporary theatre at a professional level.

IB Diploma Theatre: At the IB Diploma level, students deepen their understanding of global theatre traditions and create original work that reflects their own unique perspectives. This nurtures reflective, independent learners prepared for futures that value creativity, critical thinking, and confidence.

Music

The NLCS (Singapore) Music Programme celebrates the diverse talents of every student, offering a wide range of opportunities for those with a passion for music. With a dynamic Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) programme, students can immerse themselves in everything from orchestras, choirs, and wind bands to percussion groups and rock ensembles. For those interested in the creative side of music production, we offer Music Technology clubs such as Music Production and DJ Skills, where students can refine their talents with professional equipment and software.

Students can immerse themselves in activities such as:

Performances and Masterclasses: Throughout the year, students have the chance to participate in a variety of performances, including solo recitals, major concerts like the Christmas Celebration, and masterclasses with visiting artists. These experiences give them a platform to showcase their talents and learn from industry professionals.

Student-Led Initiatives: Students also engage in student-led initiatives, such as Open Mic sessions, with opportunities to perform at prestigious venues like the Esplanade Recital Room. These events provide students with a chance to shine, develop confidence, and further nurture their love for music.

Visual Arts

The Visual Arts department offers a range of enriching activities that encourage students to think creatively, make thoughtful decisions, and solve problems through visual communication. Students have the opportunity to bring their ideas to life, whether designing posters for school productions, using industry-standard software, or experimenting with typography. Through observational and conceptual drawing, printing, and painting, they explore the world with curiosity, reflect on different perspectives, and discover new ways of seeing and creating.

A Glimpse Into Our Creative Arts in Action: NLCS (Singapore) Arts Festival
