It fosters friendships, builds resilience, and provides students with opportunities to lead and succeed, ensuring that every student feels a sense of belonging throughout their educational journey.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At NLCS (Singapore), every student, from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12, belongs to one of four Houses. The House System is an integral part of school life, fostering a sense of belonging, collaboration, and healthy competition among students. Students remain in the same House throughout their time at NLCS (Singapore), building strong ties, a sense of loyalty, and a &#8220;family spirit&#8221; that enhances their engagement and sense of community within the school. Siblings are placed in the same House.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Each House is named after an endangered tree species native to the region, reflecting the school\u2019s commitment to environmental conservation and its connection to Singapore&#8217;s natural heritage.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group mb-2 is-layout-grid wp-container-core-group-is-layout-4d858cb8 ambitious and enjoyable House activities programme that enables every individual student to contribute.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>To nurture a sense of House spirit and identity; to ensure that every member of the School feels valued, supported and encouraged to participate in House activities.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>To foster positive relationships between staff and students and between students themselves.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>To encourage students to embrace new challenges confidently and respond to setbacks in a resilient and determined manner.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>To offer a balance of House activities which caters to a wide range of student interests.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>To celebrate individual and collective effort and performance within and across the Houses.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>To align some House competitions between the Junior and Senior Schools so there is a shared sense of excitement across the NLCS Singapore family for each competition.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n System<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Junior School, the House System introduces younger students to the values of teamwork, collaboration, and community. Through a variety of activities and events, students gain their first experiences of working together with their peers across different year groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>House-based activities and competitions encourage students to showcase their talents, whether in sports, the arts, or academics. This helps foster a sense of pride and achievement while strengthening friendships and connections across the Junior School. This setup allows for mentorship opportunities, where senior students support and guide their younger peers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students meet in House groups daily for registration with their House Tutors and participate in weekly House Assemblies.
