For the first time in NLCS (Singapore) history, three students delivered McCabe-style lectures in honour of Sophie Bryant, a pioneering mathematician and former Headmistress of NLCS London who championed critical thinking and intellectual exploration. The Bryant Student Lectures, established by our Academic Ambassador, are founded on the belief that some ideas deserve time, structure, and the courage to be explored in depth.
At the launch, our students presented thoughtful and original lectures covering a remarkable range of ideas: challenging misconceptions about artificial intelligence by contrasting it with human reasoning and emotion, exploring thought as a wordless logical structure beyond language, and examining the romanticisation of pain and suffering while questioning its ethical implications. We are incredibly proud of the intellectual courage and depth of thinking our students brought to this inaugural occasion.
