Celebrating Creativity at NLCS (Singapore)

At North London Collegiate School (Singapore), we believe that the Performing Arts are a vital component of a well-rounded education. More than just a subject, music, drama and dance are woven into the fabric of school life – inspiring confidence, expression, and creativity in every student.

Arts for All Ages and Abilities
Our Performing Arts programme is inclusive, dynamic and joyful, designed to engage students of all ages and levels of experience. Whether they’re discovering their voice in a school play or refining their instrumental technique, our students are supported by passionate and expert teachers who nurture their individual talents.

With purpose-built facilities including a 700-seat theatre, dance studio, black box drama space, and acoustically designed music rooms, students are provided with a professional environment to learn and perform. Past productions have ranged from Bugsy Malone and Twelfth Night, to The Incredible Adventures of Super Stan and Pandora’s Box — each one a celebration of student dedication and creative flair.

Structured Learning and Personalised Support
In partnership with the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA), students at NLCS (Singapore) can pursue a structured pathway in performance, guided by certified instructors. Over 200 students also benefit from one-to-one instrumental lessons with visiting specialists, enabling them to develop their technical ability in a personalised setting.

These opportunities not only strengthen students’ artistic foundations but also build essential life skills such as discipline, communication, and self-assurance.

A Festival of the Arts
A true highlight in the school calendar is our annual four-day Arts Festival. This immersive celebration brings together the entire school community in a vibrant programme of music, dance, drama, and visual arts. Students work alongside industry professionals from around the world, gaining invaluable experience and preparing a series of performances that reflect their learning and passion.

It is an inspiring reminder that the arts are not just an academic subject — they are a powerful means of connection, expression, and joy.

A Student’s Perspective
“There’s an abundance of opportunities for students to get involved and our interests in the Arts are supported and nurtured by passionate teachers,” shares Elsie, Grade 11. “Some highlights for me include taking on the role of Student Director for our Annual School Production, Around the World in 80 Days, and being vocalist for the school’s Big Band. My love of the Arts, the directorial and performance skills I have gained, and the connections I have made are invaluable to me.”

At NLCS (Singapore), the Performing Arts are more than a subject – they’re a gateway to confidence, collaboration, and personal growth. We’re proud to provide a space where creativity thrives, and every student is given the opportunity to find their voice and shine.
