North London Collegiate School (Singapore) was proud to host Stewardship Asia Centre’s inaugural Youth Symposium on 24 August 2024. Bringing together nearly 70 students from international, local, and polytechnic schools across Singapore, the event featured an inspiring day of networking, knowledge-sharing, and thought-provoking discussions focused on leadership, entrepreneurship, and community values.
Led by Annisah Smith, Senior Research & Advocacy Manager at Stewardship Asia Centre, the symposium aimed to empower future leaders as she guided students through the key components of the Steward Leadership profile: ownership mentality, interdependence, creative resilience, and a long-term vision.
Students enjoyed engaging presentations from prominent local entrepreneurs and figures, including Ms. Simone Lim of City Sprouts, Mr. Paul Sng of Channel News Asia, and Mr. Jesher Loi, the third-generation owner of the iconic Ya Kun Toast café chain. These leaders shared their personal journeys and provided valuable insights on the importance of community-driven leadership and long-term sustainability in business.
A highlight of the day was the interactive networking sessions, where students had the opportunity to engage with peers from diverse educational backgrounds and share ideas on leadership and innovation. The event also included a collaborative media project in which students created and presented solutions to key global issues, such as the rise of misinformation in the digital age.
As an attendee, Ruben from NLCS (Singapore) was greatly inspired by the Symposium and shared his thoughts in an article published in The British Chambers’ The Orient. Click on image below to read the article:
