What sets a winning team apart is not the absence of failure, but what they do with it. For MercuriX Racing, NLCS (Singapore)’s F1 in Schools team, the 2025 season was a masterclass in reflection, resilience, and the disciplined pursuit of excellence.
After a challenging previous season, the team returned with a clear-eyed commitment to improvement. “At the start of 2025, we looked honestly at what went wrong last year,” says Team Manager Samuel Sai (G10). “We realised success isn’t just about a fast car. It’s about organisation, teamwork, and refining every detail.” Two new members brought fresh energy to the group, while the whole team invested in stronger communication and collaboration. Budgeting improved significantly, with a 40% increase in funds enabling higher-quality materials and professional support, including Whitebox, the production house behind their award-winning video presentation.

The car itself became a testament to precision and resilience. Using ANSYS simulations and iterative testing, the team refined every component through multiple design attempts, many of which failed to meet regulations or performance goals. Each setback, however, became a lesson, ultimately producing a faster and more reliable vehicle.

Their efforts paid off at the 2025 Singapore National Finals, where MercuriX Racing clinched the National Champion title, won Knockout Racing Champion, and earned Best Video Presentation. Yet the greatest growth extended beyond technical achievement. “A strong team isn’t defined by job titles,” reflects Research Engineer Yarun Zhang (G10). “It’s defined by trust, collaboration, and being there for each other.”
With their sights now set on the 2026 STEM Racing World Finals, MercuriX Racing embodies the spirit of learning that defines a truly rounded education at our international school in Singapore.
