VP Safeguarding and Inclusion

At NLCS (Singapore), safeguarding the students is a shared responsibility and a cornerstone of our ethos. We ensure that every student thrives in a secure and supportive learning environment. Our commitment to child safety is a shared responsibility, embraced by all members of our community—including teaching and non-teaching staff, volunteers, students, and visitors.

The safety and care of our students are paramount to the staff and parents of NLCS (Singapore). Our approach to safeguarding encompasses a wide range of actions designed to protect students from harm and ensure they feel supported throughout their educational journey with us.

Central to our safeguarding framework is our comprehensive Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and Procedure, complemented by related school policies. This comprehensive approach is designed to create a safe learning environment where every child can thrive.

To uphold the highest standards of child protection, all aspects of our safeguarding policies are rigorously reviewed through regular internal and external audits.

Our Safeguarding practice determines the actions that we take to keep children safe and protect them from harm in all aspects of their school life. As a school we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all of our pupils.

School staff play an essential role in protecting children from abuse. They have regular contact with children so are in a strong position to identify signs of abuse and neglect.

We:

  • create safe environments for children through robust safeguarding practices
  • make sure staff are trained, know how to respond to concerns and keep-up to date with policy and practice
  • teach children about staying safe
  • maintain an environment where children feel confident to approach any member of staff if they have a worry or problem
  • ensure that adults who work in the school, including visitors and volunteers, don’t pose a risk to children

The actions that we take to prevent harm; to promote wellbeing; to create safe environments; to educate on respect and responsibilities; to respond to specific issues and vulnerabilities all form part of the safeguarding responsibilities of the school. As such, this overarching policy will link to other policies which will provide more information and greater detail.
