The NLCS (Singapore) House System is more than a structure—it is the heart of the school’s vibrant community. It fosters friendships, builds resilience, and provides students with opportunities to lead and succeed, ensuring that every student feels a sense of belonging throughout their educational journey.
At NLCS (Singapore), every student, from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12, belongs to one of four Houses. The House System is an integral part of school life, fostering a sense of belonging, collaboration, and healthy competition among students. Students remain in the same House throughout their time at NLCS (Singapore), building strong ties, a sense of loyalty, and a “family spirit” that enhances their engagement and sense of community within the school. Siblings are placed in the same House.
Each House is named after an endangered tree species native to the region, reflecting the school’s commitment to environmental conservation and its connection to Singapore’s natural heritage.

Junior School House System
In the Junior School, the House System introduces younger students to the values of teamwork, collaboration, and community. Through a variety of activities and events, students gain their first experiences of working together with their peers across different year groups.
House-based activities and competitions encourage students to showcase their talents, whether in sports, the arts, or academics. This helps foster a sense of pride and achievement while strengthening friendships and connections across the Junior School. The House System creates a supportive and nurturing environment that reinforces the importance of participation and shared success.

Senior School House System
In the Senior School, the House System forms the foundation of pastoral care. Each House is made up of students from Grades 6 to 12, creating a vertical structure that promotes meaningful interactions between older and younger students. This setup allows for mentorship opportunities, where senior students support and guide their younger peers.
Students meet in House groups daily for registration with their House Tutors and participate in weekly House Assemblies. These gatherings encourage camaraderie, collaborative problem-solving, and personal growth, contributing to a vibrant and inclusive school community.
