Senior School: Cultivating Ambition, Curiosity, and Excellence

The Senior School at NLCS (Singapore) is a dynamic and transformative phase in a student’s educational journey. Spanning Grades 6 to 12, the Senior School provides an environment where students are encouraged to aim high, think independently, and pursue their passions within a supportive and stimulating community. Our ambitious academic ethos, outstanding pastoral care, and vibrant co-curricular programme ensure that every student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.

Academic Excellence

At the heart of the Senior School experience is a rigorous and innovative academic programme. Our curriculum is designed to challenge students intellectually while nurturing critical thinking, creativity, and a deep love for learning. Through the Middle Years Programme (MYP) to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), students are guided by passionate subject specialists who inspire curiosity and a commitment to excellence.

We warmly invite you to explore the Senior School and discover how we help students realise their full potential.

Middle School (Grades 6–8)

The Middle School is a time of exploration and discovery, where students are encouraged to deepen their understanding of each subject and develop key skills for success. Guided by our dedicated subject specialists, students engage with rigorous, discipline-specific study while learning to think creatively and critically.

Key Features of the Middle School Programme:

  • Culture of Scholarship: We encourage students to delve deeply into the subjects they love, guided by teachers who bring expertise and enthusiasm to every lesson.
  • Approaches to Learning: Our teaching develops essential skills such as critical thinking, effective communication, and resilience, ensuring students are active participants in their own education.
  • Global Perspectives: Students connect their learning to the wider world, exploring themes of global citizenship and social responsibility through the lens of the NLCS ethos.

While we use the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework, it is delivered through the distinct NLCS approach, ensuring that every student benefits from an education rooted in ambition, curiosity, and academic excellence.

Upper School (Grades 9–10)

The Upper School builds on the foundation of the Middle School, challenging students to think deeply, work independently, and engage with increasingly complex ideas. Students are encouraged to explore their interests and begin tailoring their education to suit their passions and goals.

Key Features of the Upper School Programme:

  • Subject Mastery: With greater flexibility in subject choices, students deepen their expertise in areas of personal interest while maintaining breadth across the curriculum.
  • Critical Inquiry: Our teaching approach fosters independent thought and creativity, empowering students to tackle sophisticated problems and explore innovative solutions.
  • Preparation for the Future: The Upper School experience equips students with the confidence and skills needed to excel in the Sixth Form and beyond.

Our use of the IB Middle Years Programme framework supports the NLCS ethos, ensuring that students are inspired to reach their full potential through a curriculum tailored to their aspirations.
