NLCS (Singapore) was privileged to welcome students from our sister schools in Kobe, London, Dubai, and Jeju for our inaugural NLCS International Model United Nations, a landmark occasion that brought our global community together under the theme of Bridges Across Borders.
Over three dynamic days, delegates immersed themselves in the art of diplomacy, engaging thoughtfully with some of the world’s most pressing challenges while forging meaningful connections across our international network. The event opened on a celebratory note with an energetic performance from our Big Band, before Mark Fletcher, First Secretary to the British High Commission, addressed delegates with insights into his work and practical guidance on what it means to be an effective diplomat.

From there, students threw themselves into committee sessions spanning Sustainability, Human Rights, and historical contexts such as the Berlin Airlift of 1948. Across two days of rigorous debate, delegates represented their assigned countries with confidence and conviction, negotiating perspectives and working collaboratively to reach resolutions on challenges including environmental concerns, water scarcity, and transnational cybercrime.

What made this conference truly special was not only the quality of debate, but the spirit in which it was conducted. Students from five NLCS schools came together as one community, demonstrating that the values of curiosity, respect, and collaboration transcend borders. For many delegates, the connections made across committee tables and beyond were as meaningful as the resolutions passed within them.
Our inaugural NLCS International Model United Nations was a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when young people are given the space to engage seriously with the world, reflecting the kind of globally minded, rigorous education that families seek at an international school in Singapore.
