The Anxious Dragon took to the stage in a captivating performance that brought together the power of live orchestral music and the creativity of student-led animation.
Commissioned especially for NLCS (Singapore), the piece was composed by Thomas Gregory and performed by our Festival Orchestra following an intensive workshop series with the composer. The result was a performance that showcased both technical precision and emotional depth—from delicate string passages to bold, expressive brass.
What made this piece truly unique was the visual storytelling: original student animation created in collaboration with LaSalle. Using Adobe Photoshop, students designed and animated a vivid sequence of Chinese zodiac animals, each frame brought to life with colour, motion, and imagination.
It was a powerful celebration of artistic collaboration, creativity, and the kind of bold, interdisciplinary learning we value deeply at NLCS (Singapore).
